Why will the return of emergency aid happen?

The return of emergency aid granted by the Government during the pandemic is a way to resolve the cases of people who received it, but who did not fit the requirements.

Who will return the money?

  • Employment relationship;
  • Defense Insurance;
  • Emergency benefit;
  • irregular CPF;
  • Who received other assistance or social security benefits;
  • State officials;
  • Military pensioners;
  • Public servants, among others.

How do you know if I need to return the emergency aid?

If you fit or not in some of the topics listed above, there is still that question of having to return the emergency aid received or not.

In this way, the Government informed that all those who want to be sure should be attentive to the Ministry's telephone and website.

That's because, you can receive a message via SMS or consultation in the CPF.

SMS will always be sent by numbers 28041 or 28042, if you receive it from another, disregard.

The message you will be able to view will have part of your CPF and the phrase: “(…) has installments to return from the Emergency Aid. Return the installments at gov.br/devolucaoae. Report fraud at gov.br/falabrae”.

Another option is to access the website of the Ministry of Citizenship and access it with your CPF number.

In both cases, you will fill out a form with your information to access the Union Collection Guide – GRU.

Return payment – How is it done?

After you issue the form, through the GRU, just go to one of the channels available for collection, namely:

  • Bank Channels;
  • Self-service channels;
  • Directly at the bank branch window;
  • Internet Banking.

Therefore, be aware when issuing the GRU, choosing the option “Banco do Brasil” or “any bank”.

It is worth noting that notifications for the return of emergency aid began in December 2021 and more than one million Brazilians have already received the message.

By accessing the Ministry's website, everyone can return the amount, if they want, even those who received it properly.

Therefore, to be sure that you need to return it, in front of the phrase “Total amount to be returned”, there must be a number.

Double Return: What is it?

The measure was approved in which those who received the aid without need make the return in double.

According to the Commission, this is a way of penalizing those who acted improperly or in bad faith.

The initial deadline is six months for the return, after which the amount will be subject to a fine. The daily late fee is 0.33% and can be as high as 20%.

In cases where Brazilians filed a measure due to registration without consent, this double return is not valid.

Can the return of emergency aid be made in installments?

The Ministry of Citizenship has already issued a note saying that it is not possible to pay back the aid in installments. That is, you must pay the full amount of the installment.

Therefore, you will access the website and issue the GRU, choosing the installment you will pay.

So far, the Government has not decided what the maximum time will be for payments to be made, giving a little more time to those who received it unduly.

However, you need to keep an eye on this issue.

In the same way, non-payment may result in judicial notice and denial by the credit and debt agencies prescribed in court.
